COACHING
The two-day coaching course is part of the Australian Sports Commission's National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) and covers the necessary theory components of both the NCAS and the sports-specific practical requirements of Surfing Australia. NCAS approved courses are recognized nationally and are the standard qualification requirement for employment in any one of Surfing Australia's Licenced Surf Schools. The coaching courses are also recognised by the International Surfing Association (ISA).

LEVEL 1 SURF COACHING
- allows you to coach for a Surfing Australia Licenced Surf School

To gain accreditation you must:
- attend the two-day course
- be a competent surfer
- be a current Surfing Australia/State Member member
- submit signed coaches code of ethics form
- complete the coaches workbook, including being signed off by a Surfing Australia Coach at a Surfing Australia Surf School for 20 hours of training (hours must be completed after attending the course)
- have good English skills
- be over 16 years of age

Hold and supply copies of current certificates for: 
- Working With Children Check (if over 18)
- Applied First Aid
- Ocean Safety Certificate (either SLSA Bronze proficiency, SLSA Surf Rescue certificate, RLS Ocean Rescue Award, or OSSCA Apola

Cost: $480.00
- this covers the cost of the two-day course and accreditation as a Surfing Australia Level 1 Surf Coach for two years, all documentation must be submitted and approved before gaining accreditation.


LEVEL TWO SURF COACHING
To obtain the Level 2 Surf Coaching Accreditation, you need to hold the Level 1 Surf Coach Accreditation as a pre-requisite. 
By gaining your Level 2 accreditation it also opens up greater opportunities to become involved in coaching at a State and High-Performance level.

To obtain this award an individual must adhere to the following accreditation requirements:
- must have 2yrs experience as a Surfing Australia accredited Level 1 Surf Coach
- full attendance at two-day Surfing Australia Level Two Coaching Course
- 40 hours of face to face coaching practice
- maintain a practical coaching diary
- completion of the online exam
- Surfing Australia/State membership
- submit signed coaches code of ethics form

STAND-UP PADDLE BOARD (SUP) FLAT WATER / SUP SURF OPEN WATER 
The Surfing Australia flat water SUP course is the minimum qualification required to be a SUP instructor in Australia. 

To gain accreditation you must:
- participate in the two-day SUP Surf Coach Course
- be a competent SUP paddler (pass the SUP skills assessment)
- have a current Surfing Australia/State membership
- submit signed coaches code of ethics form
- complete the coaches workbook, including being signed off by a Surfing Australia Coach at a Surfing Australia Surf School for 20 hours of training (hours must be completed after attending the course)
- have good English Skills
- be over 16 years of age

COACHING RE-ACCREDITATION
Surf Coaching accreditation is valid for 2 years from the date of initial accreditation. Surfing Australia will send you a reminder when your accreditation is due to expire. You MUST re-accredit with your state branch for your coaching accreditation to be valid.

To gain re-accreditation you must submit:
re-accreditation form and coaches code of ethics
- payment of $150.00 (this covers 2 years Surfing NSW membership and coaching accreditation)
